Ack Van Rooyen, celebrated Dutch trumpet and flugelhorn player -- and my brother-in-law -- is composing music for a cd of his music and my poetry, with guitarist Peter Tiehuis.  I made video recordings of these poems, two of which are posted on YouTube.com/fieldinski.

Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David del Tredici is setting a cycle of my poems, called "A Field Manual," for the Fireworks Ensemble, performance date to be announced.

Former Leonard Bernstein assistant and composer Jack Gottlieb is also writing music for many of my movie poems, with a cd in mind.

Alfred Chester's porn novel, CHARIOT OF FLESH, written for and published by Olympia Press in Paris under the pseudonym Malcolm Nesbitt, has been published in Russian by Kolonna, with a memoir by me -- see my LINKS page for the web address of the publisher's catalogue.  They are next planning to bring out in Russian his novel JAMIE IS MY HEART'S DESIRE, which has just been reissued in this country by Black Sparrow Press/Godine with an Afterword by Harriet Sohmers Zwerling, taken from her book NOTES OF A NUDE MODEL.  Black Sparrow has also published Alfred's final novel THE EXQUISITE CORPSE, with a memoir by Diana Athill, his editor at UK publisher Andre Deutsch.  This essay also appears in STET, Diana's memoirs of her years at Andre Deutsch.  This fall, Granta will be publishing her latest book, SOMEWHERE TOWARDS THE END, a shrewd assessment of old age.  The American edition, published by Norton, will follow soon after.
